PODCASTS

It was an episode of Nashville Public Radio's Neighbors called "The Tuba Man" that first showed me how powerful audio storytelling can be. What started as investigating an odd fixture in the Nashville community turned into an empathetic and compelling human story.

I can still remember sitting on my mom's front porch in Pennsylvania during the summer before my senior year in college, listening to it for the first time, laughing and crying and enraptured for the whole 17-minute story.

That's when I knew I needed to chase that type of powerful audio storytelling. I'm still chasing it to this day.

Below, you can learn more about the stops I've made along that journey and can listen to my narrative- and interview-style audio storytelling work.

THIS IS COMMUNITY—SEASON ONE

Purpose Built Communities is a national network of local leaders working to improve equity and opportunity in neighborhoods across the United States. The on-the-ground organizations (known as "community quarterbacks") leverage a holistic community revitalization model that focuses on mixed income housing, a cradle-to-college education pipeline, and community wellness within a defined neighborhood in order to address systemic and historical racial inequity, differential health outcomes, and economic immobility.

The first season of This is Community, Purpose Built Communities' highly produced narrative podcast series, addresses how intergenerational poverty is segregated into some neighborhoods and not others; how housing, education, and wellness are all interconnected and central to a vibrant neighborhood; and how leaders in neighborhoods across the country are tackling these issues and fostering transformational revitalization in their communities.

I was the producer, director, and editor for Season One and was involved in and responsible for:

  • Concepting & creative strategy
